J.Dilla ~ Still Shining
This week many of us celebrated the birthday of the late James "J.Dilla" Yancey. The video below is a tribute which was put together in 2006 to help commemorate this legendary producer through rare footage and interviews. One of the great things about this film is the respect this man garnered not only for his amazing and ground breaking style of production, but for his legendary work ethic. He was a true master of his craft and I can relate to those endless nights toiling away in the "lab", trying to perfect whatever task was at hand and often foregoing human interaction and sometimes sustenance in the spirit of pursuing the passion that drives us.

Hats off to director Brian "B.Kyle"Atkins of Gifted Films for putting this series together. This is by far the best I've seen.

I've had this post idle in a tab since the day you shared it & I'm SO glad I didn't lose interest in wanting to watch it because when I finally got around to doing so it was such a pleasure to watch this documentary of a "genius". I'm familiar with J. Dilla, but had never known just how great he was. This video has piqued my interest in getting to be well-versed in all that is Jay Dee. I found great admiration for him in this video, not only because he possessed the admiration of those artists whom I am more familiar (and respect) but because of the work ethic, the character, and the true appreciation of music that was evidently possessed by him. Thanks for the share!!!
