The Book of Eli - trailer

Another post-apocalyptic thriller brought to you by The Hughes Brothers. I've always been a DW fan and it's always refreshing seeing an African American lead/badass with some acting chops be the story focal point. Denzel is getting older now so my question is who will fill that void he and Wesley Snipes had for a bit?

"Martyrs" - 2008

Martyrs, the 2nd French gorefest directed by Pascal Laugier, is one of the few movies I have seen in my adult life that really threw me for a loop. As an avid horror movie fan, I came to realize this wasn't the run of the mill slasher flick within the first 15 minutes. I can honestly say I was disturbed, intrigued and a bit shaken up by the end. I'll even go as far as admitting it took all I had to finish the movie without taking a break due to it's sheer relentlessness. Upon finishing it, I sat back and had to say "holy shit!", then got some water...

If you are up to the challenge and like intensely horrific movies that leave you thinking, feel free to give this one a shot. This is DEFINITELY not for the faint of heart.

Kudos to the French for releasing this. Perhaps American horror film makers will have the balls one day to conjure up an equivalent to this.

Good luck!

2012 - Full Trailer

Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow) presents the latest of his string of disaster / end of the world themed movies with "2012". With stellar actors Danny Glover, Thandie Newton and Chiwetel Ejiofor playing major rolls, I'm curious to see how the eminent 2012 apocalypse that has been predicted for centuries will be handled. I do know that with a $200 million dollar budget, this looks to be a CGI lover's wet dream judging by the trailer. While I don't expect to be wowed by any deep theories or profound statements about society, I do plan on seeing this and taking it for what it is...a decent looking special FX extravaganza only a big screen showing can do justice..after all, this is what guys really want to see at the movies anyway, right?
