Intel Visual Life - The Sartorialist

Many of you are already familiar with Scott Schuman's work via his now renowned blog The Sartorialist. Scott's blog has become the standard that helped start a movement of street photography that focuses on style. Scott can be seen anywhere from the streets of Manhattan all the way to Paris photographing some of the most eclictic and stylish inhabitants for our viewing pleasure.

I've never been the snazziest dresser coming up but I always tried to make it a point to rock the hell out of whatever I was able to. This is very important when defining your style. It has nothing to do with WHAT you are wearing but everything to do with HOW you wear it. It's about knowing who you are, being confident, and being able to walk into a room with $1 in your pocket but feeling like a million bucks. A huge part of Creative Silence is making light of the fact that while fashion does have its place, our true job is to bring out your personal style, regardless of what you are wearing. Style also doesn't only have to deal with clothing, it can be the way you walk, the music you listen to, the way you drink your coffee, sketch, paint, write and so on. All these things can encompass style and it is up to you to define it. 

However you personally incorporate style into your life, whatever you do, do it your way and find your voice. Set yourself apart and leave no questions as to what makes your style yours.

old is new.

I've found myself going through older work and rediscovering them with a fresh set of eyes. As the year closes, I look forward to doing the same on the personal and professional levels....looking at life with fresh and clearer seeing eyes. I've also been in the process of making some cosmetic changes to Creative Silence as well as making room for some new ventures for 2011, all while fulfilling and delivering the last few 2010 obligations.  As of late my posting (particularly on my facebook page) has come to a halt as I spent less time looking and more time doing. I  am enjoying the self imposed vacation from social networking as I work on creating from within minus the distractions of the "cloud". 

Stay tuned as I have so many goodies on stash and will post a few before the New Year as time permits since I'll be on vacation till the 1st week of January, so until then...

I've often wondered what it was about certain people / celebrities / style and taste makers that made the masses follow them. This is a subject that has intrigued me since I was a child so the video below, written and directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, helps illustrate the concepts and ideas that help make up the influencers of our time, particularly in pop culture and art. This is a cool documentary which has been blogged to death for the past month or so and features some top Influencers of today.

Tarah & Damone V.3

A few weeks ago, good friends and clients Tarah and Damone made their way to NC from VA for a day of shooting in the streets and alleys of downtown Raleigh with me. They were troopers as we roamed the back alleys to get some shots and I think the results were good...she definitely trashed her dress as they rolled around on the train tracks...all for the worthwhile cause of some great photos.

week 29 and counting (or something like that)

Last month was crazy to say the least but things have been rolling along this month so far. As you know, I've been working on this 52 weeks project since roughly the beginning of the year. I confess, I've missed a few weeks, however, I've been able to muster up some self portrait goodness to make up for it. Along with that, of course, is the constant school and business "grind", so bare with me as I flood my blog with tons of images over the next week or so. I've had some amazing shoots with some amazing people and it is my duty to show some of the work here....

Kimiko Yoshida Self Portrait Series

Fine Art Photographer Kimiko Yoshida's self portrait series is as stunning conceptually as it is in execution. Each portrait portrays her in the traditional dress of various cultures around the world.

IWWMG Photoshoot

I had the opportunity to photograph 9th Wonder's parent label It's a Wonderful World Music Group and its members a few weeks ago for their future promo and pubs usage. Needless to say, this was one of the funnest shoots I've had and, despite the large group, everything went off without a hitch.

The Senior

I met Rakim and his mom for the first time the day of our shoot. The main thing she emphasized was not wanting senior photos for her son like the rest she'd seen others in the area with. I hope I accomplished that for her. Rakim was awesome and I encourage anyone in the NC area to check out the North Carolina Museum of Art; awesome architecture and a great setting for a photoshoot. Good luck to you Rakim in college and all you do!

Shawn ~ ATL

Here are a few photos from a session with my client Shawn in Atlanta. We spent a little time at Piedmont Park chatting and making photos that hopefully reflect the professional and chill nature of this lovely lady.
